This Privacy Policy describes how the CAD Finder desktop application (the “App”) by Entropy Tools Solutions (“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information. The App is a Windows desktop application packaged as MSIX and designed to run locally on your device.

Summary

  • The App scans folders and file names you choose, entirely on your device.
  • We do not collect, store, or transmit your file contents to our servers.
  • The App sends diagnostic and usage telemetry (crash reports and UI interaction events) to Sentry to help us improve reliability.
  • The App does not include advertising or cross-app tracking.
  • Network access is used for Microsoft Store licensing/purchases and telemetry; core scanning features work offline.

Information We Process

The App may process the following information that you provide or select:

  • Drive selections and folder paths used during scans.
  • File names and extensions on your local drives (the App does not open file contents).
  • Optional settings you configure, such as the list of extensions.
  • Diagnostic and usage telemetry described below.

Scan data and settings are used only to provide the App’s functionality (finding folders that contain CAD file types) and remain on your device. Telemetry is sent to Sentry as described below.

Local Processing and Storage

  • All processing occurs locally on your device. The App does not upload your files or their contents to any external service.
  • Settings are stored locally in your user profile, for example: `AppData\Roaming\CadFinder\settings.json`.
  • Exported reports are saved only to locations you choose.

No Sale or Sharing of Personal Data

We do not sell, rent, or license your personal data. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.

Permissions and Capabilities

The MSIX package declares the restricted capability `runFullTrust`. This is required for packaged Win32 desktop applications so the App can run with normal desktop functionality (file I/O, windows, dialogs). The App does not use this capability to escalate privileges, install services, modify system settings, or access data without your action.

In addition, the package declares `internetClient`. Core features of the App do not require network access. Network access is used for Microsoft Store licensing/purchases and to send telemetry described below. The App does not transmit your files or their contents to our servers.

Children’s Privacy

The App is intended for use by adults and not for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Data Retention and Your Control

  • Your files remain under your control at all times.
  • You can remove the App at any time using Windows “Apps & features”. Uninstalling the App will remove application files; any documents you created or stored elsewhere will remain in those locations.

Security

We take reasonable measures consistent with a local-first desktop application to protect information processed by the App. File contents stay on your device; telemetry is transmitted to Sentry as described below. Risks are primarily limited to your local environment, device security practices, and the telemetry described.

Diagnostics and Usage Telemetry

The App uses Sentry to capture diagnostics and usage telemetry. This is enabled by default and includes:

  • Crash and error reports (exception messages, stack traces).
  • App lifecycle events (such as app start/exit).
  • Basic UI interaction events (button/menu clicks with control names, labels, and types).
  • Device and app context (OS version, app version, and runtime environment).

Telemetry does not include file contents, but it may include file or folder paths if they appear in exception messages. The App does not currently provide an in-app setting to disable telemetry.

Third-Party Libraries

The App uses open-source components (for example, CommunityToolkit.Mvvm and Microsoft.Extensions libraries) solely to provide functionality. These libraries operate within the App and do not send your content to their authors. Their respective licenses are available in their repositories or package metadata.

Third-Party Services

The App sends telemetry to Sentry (https://sentry.io) as described above. Sentry processes this data on our behalf under its privacy policy.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect improvements or legal requirements. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the App after changes indicates acceptance of the revised policy.

Microsoft Store and Platform Services

If you acquire the App from the Microsoft Store, certain purchase, licensing, update, and crash/diagnostic information may be processed by Microsoft as part of the Store and Windows platform services. Such processing is governed by the Microsoft Privacy Statement: https://www.microsoft.com/privacy/privacystatement. This is separate from our App’s local processing described above.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights such as access, correction, deletion, portability, and objection/restriction. Because the App processes your content locally on your device, you generally exercise control directly (for example, by editing or deleting files, or uninstalling the App). For questions or rights requests related to information you voluntarily share with us (e.g., support communications), contact us using the email listed below.

Controller and Legal Basis

Entropy Tools Solutions is the controller only for information you voluntarily provide to us outside the App (for example, when you email support). We are not a controller for the content you process locally within the App. Where applicable, our processing of information you provide directly to us is based on: (i) performance of a contract (providing support or services you request), (ii) our legitimate interests (improving and securing the App), and/or (iii) compliance with legal obligations.

International Transfers

We do not collect or transmit your in-App content to our servers; therefore, we do not transfer such data internationally. If you contact us, your message may be processed by standard email infrastructure that can involve international transfer consistent with applicable safeguards.

Retention of Support Communications

We do not retain copies of your files. If you contact support and share information (such as emails), we retain those communications only for as long as necessary to address your request and meet legal or compliance requirements.
